March Madness!!!!!

I love this time of the year, sports-wise. It's time for the annual college basketball tournament. A time when office pools can be found. And with the internet one can even enter their brackets online and never have to see the pool's organizer at all - other than to give him the $5 it costs to enter a pool. Of course my pick to win it all this year is UCLA. I was so impressed with the Pacific Ten conference this ear that I somehow picked three teams to make it to the Final Four. Well, that other school from L.A. let me down in a big way as they lost in the first round. Those stooopid Trojans ... well, that's why it's called March madness. Anything can happen.

My team in the pro ranks is not doing too bad themselves. The Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference as of this morning. And they should only get better as their two big men are suffering from injuries but are due back before the playoffs. And the sport that is my favorite, pro baseball, and my team in blue, the Dodgers, will soon start their season. This year they are celebrating their 50th anniversary in L.A. and they have a special pre-season game against the Boston Red Sox being played at the L.A. Coliseum. yeah, that football stadium that the other school from L.A. uses is being transformed into a baseball field. The dimensions are going to be ridiculous. left field will be about 200 feet but have a 60 foot tall fence to make it a little challenge to hit a homerun. Center and right fields will be about a million feet away from home plate. At least that is what it would seem to the batters. It's gonna be a blast. Going with a group of people, some from church and some from work. Can't wait.

The best part of the day though, and always will be, is today is Good Friday. We commemorate the death of our Lord and Savior Jesus. He suffered pain, humility and accepted death on the cross for us. The Passion of Christ is read at today's service - the only day there is no Mass at church is today. Even though the Passion is a sad reminder of what He went for us, and how He died for us because of our sins, it's only temporary as in three days He rose from the dead to show us that death has no power over Him. That through Jesus Christ, we can have eternal salvation, if we allow Him to be a part of our lives. Glory and praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ!!
