Dodgers at the Coliseum

Wow, what a zoo. The Dodgers decided to have an exhibition game against the Boston red Sox at the Coliseum to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Dodgers being in Los Angeles, and it was packed. They sold over 115, 000 tickets to the game and I am sure that over 95% of them showed up for the game. The Coliseum is a historical stadium but it is not too user friendly, especially for someone like me who has knee problems. The steps are too high, the aisles are about 60 seats wide - especially in the section where I got my seats - and parking is horrendous. I thought Dodger Stadium was bad but I now have a new found appreciation for the place.

Still, I had a great time. Lots of friends were with me for the game. GB, Bren, Ron and Carrie (plus Kara) from Search; Caitlin and Juan from church made it - Caitlin was home for spring break so she was able to join, and she brought a couple of friends, while Juan invited some friends who, even though were Red Sox fans, were fun to go to a baseball game; and John, Jack and Adam (and family) from work made it as well. There were only 4 homeruns hit even though left field was a mere 201 feet away from home plate. The Dodgers used a 5 infielder set up, while the Red Sox shifted their outfielders to the right. The Dodgers almost made a comeback, scoring twice off Papelbon in the bottom of the ninth, and had runners on base when they made the 3rd out. Oh well, it was an exhibition game, and all proceeds for the game went towards ThinkCure, the Dodgers anti-cancer charity.

As for the other madness going on, the Bruins are still alive, making it to their third straight Final Four. For the first time since teams were seeded, all four number 1 seeds made it to the Final Four. Guess the NCAA selection committee made correct picks a couple of weeks ago. So now UCLA will play Memphis, while Kansas plays North Carolina to see who goes to the national championship game next Monday.
